Regina Stevens-Truss, Kalamazoo School’s Dorothy H. Heyl Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, is the recipient of the 2023 American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) Award for Exemplary Contributions to Schooling.
The ASBMB is an expert group of science, one of many largest of its form on this planet. The award, instituted in 2005, credit a person who encourages an efficient educating and studying of biochemistry and molecular biology whereas demonstrating a dedication to pedagogical engagement and educating innovation. Since becoming a member of the school at Ok in January 2000, Stevens-Truss has been educating Chemical Reactivity, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and An infection: World Well being and Social Justice. She can also be the School’s director of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Inclusive Excellence grant, which was awarded to Ok’s science division in 2018. In 2016, she obtained Ok’s highest educating honor, the Florence J. Lucasse Lectureship for Excellence in Educating.
Stevens-Truss earned a bachelor’s diploma from Rutgers College and a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from the College of Toledo. She held two fellowships on the College of Michigan between 1993 and 1999, one in every of which was a lectureship in medicinal chemistry.
