This week’s Debrief involves you from the darkest recesses of the Bieszczady Mountains in south-east Poland. Like tens of millions of Poles up and down the nation, host John Beauchamp goes to make the most of his God-given proper to barbecue this weekend.
There’s a cause why this podcast is a bit of late this week: I’ve simply completed a month-long manufacturing of a collection referred to as The Bear Subsequent Door on BBC Radio 4. Over 5 episodes, cultural and political heavyweights from the Baltic States, Finland and Moldova speak of their sense of id within the face of Russia’s agression on Ukraine.
This sense of id feeds immediately into this week’s subject on The Debrief, as I meet Rafał Rogulski and Anna Wachowiak from the European Community Remembrance and Solidarity to speak about how a nation’s reminiscence performs into a way of id.
