ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greece made a proper protest to Turkey on Wednesday involving accusations that the fellow-NATO member performed unauthorized navy flights over inhabited Greek islands.
“These actions represent a violation of Greece’s sovereignty, they’re an unacceptable provocation and run opposite to basic ideas of worldwide regulation,” Greece’s Overseas Ministry stated in a press release.
Turkey’s ambassador to Athens was summoned to the ministry to obtain the criticism in individual. Turkey didn’t instantly reply publicly to Wednesday’s criticism.
Neighbors Greece and Turkey have long-standing sea and air boundary disputes that intensified with strikes to discover potential undersea pure gasoline reserves.
